LaVi Jewellery Care Guide

At LaVi we believe jewellery is more than an accessory, it is a mirror of how you feel. Each piece is handcrafted in Brazil with 18k gold‑plated layers, designed to carry the warmth of golden sunlight and the passion of Brazilian artistry. By treating your jewellery with care, you honour the skill of the artisans who made it and preserve its beauty for years to come.

Our Materials & Craftsmanship

LaVi pieces are made with intention. We start with a strong, nickel‑free base metal chosen for its longevity and hypoallergenic properties. Skilled Brazilian goldsmiths then bond multiple layers of 18k gold to this core. Premium Brazilian manufacturers describe this oro laminado technique, which uses several layers of gold and a protective coating, as a way to create durable jewellery that stands out for its quality. The thick layer of 18k gold plated onto the base metal gives our jewellery a luxurious finish comparable to solid gold.

Gold plating is done through electroplating, where gold particles bond to the metal’s surface. Industry standards require gold plating of at least 0.5 microns thick, but higher‑quality brands apply thicker layers for greater durability. LaVi uses this higher standard to ensure a beautiful shine that lasts. This fusion of meticulous craftsmanship and premium materials is what sets our pieces apart.

Keep It Sparkling

Everyday polish: After each wear, gently wipe your LaVi jewellery with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. This removes oils and residues that can dull its shine

Dry thoroughly: Always dry your pieces completely with a lint‑free cloth before storing to prevent moisture from tarnishing the plating

Store With Love

Separate & soft: Store each piece in a fabric pouch or lined jewellery box to prevent scratches and tangles. Keep different metals separated to minimise reactions that could accelerate tarnishing

Clean before storing: Dirt and sweat left on jewellery can shorten its lifespan; give your pieces a quick wipe before putting them away.

Choose a dry, dark place: Moisture and direct sunlight can dull gold plating. A cool, dry drawer or jewellery box is ideal.

What to Avoid

Chemicals & cosmetics: Remove jewellery before applying perfume, hairspray, lotions or cleaning products; these can erode the gold layer.

Water & sweat: While our 18k plating is designed for durability, it’s best to take off pieces before bathing, swimming in chlorinated or salty water, or exercising. Water and chemicals can damage both the plating and any gemstones.

Sleeping & strenuous activities: Take jewellery off before bed or intense physical activity to avoid knocks, bending or stress on clasps.

Extreme heat & light: Prolonged exposure to sunlight or high temperatures can fade plating. Store your pieces away from radiators and sunny windowsills.
